Congratulations to the Kobe Surf Lifesaving Squad
Study Tours Australia recently hosted students from Kobe YMCA to train for the prestigious Bronze Medallion in surf lifesaving. The one week rigorous program was based at the Burleigh Heads Surf Lifesaving Club at the Gold Coast. Although the weather took a turn for the worse towards the end of the week, the students showed strong dedication and determination to meet the standards of the program. They braved the waters with rescue tubes and boards, performed a variety of carries, practiced CPR as well as studying first aid and other theoretical aspects of the course.
The students carried out their exam in terrible conditions with high seas and strong winds. They were, however, able to show the examiners that they were competent in both the practical and theoretical components and were awarded with their medallions.
Following their time at Burleigh, the students enhanced their scuba diving techniques at Moreton Island. They then spent a few days in Brisbane where they developed their English skills and cultural understanding whilst staying with Aussie host families.
If you're interested in taking part in a program like this or having STA develop a specilised program for your group, please contact us for further information.
